Board Of Directors

RMP's business is guided by our Board of Directors. Each of the seven members of the Board possess vast knowledge of, and experience in the petroleum industry. The Board provides strategic guidance to the company's executive management team.

Craig W. Stewart
RMP Executive Chairman
Calgary, Alberta
Director since May 2011

Mr. Stewart is the Executive Chairman of RMP Energy Inc. He most recently held the position of Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of RMP Energy Ltd. from 2008 until the May 2011 restructuring. He was President and CEO of Rider Resources Ltd. from 2003 to 2008, Meota Resources Corp. from 2000 to 2002 and Poco Petroleums Ltd. from 1992 to 1999. Mr. Stewart has served as a board member of several oil and gas industry organizations and public energy companies. Currently, his only directorship is for RMP.

Mr. Stewart earned a Bachelor degree in economics and business from the University of Calgary.


Doug Baker

Mr. Baker, RMP's Chairman of the Board's Audit Committee, is an independent businessman with more than 28 years of executive experience in the oil and gas industry. He was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Valiant Energy Inc. prior to its takeover by Peerless Energy Inc. in September 2006. Mr. Baker was President and Chief Financial Officer of Forte Resources Inc. and its predecessors from 1997 to 2006. He was also Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Territorial Resources Inc. from 1996 to 1997, Chancellor Energy Resources Inc. from 1993 to 1996, American Eagle Petroleum Ltd. from 1991 to 1993 and Canadian Conquest Exploration Inc. from 1983 to 1991. Mr. Baker serves on the Board of Directors of several public and private companies in the energy, financial and development sectors.

Mr. Baker has been a professional chartered accountant since 1977 and was President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2003, and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2009 and 2010. In 1996, he received the honour of being named a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants. Mr. Baker is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours and Distinction.

 

John Brussa

Mr. Brussa is a senior partner and head of the tax department in the Calgary-based energy law firm of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP. John specializes in the area of taxation including resource taxation, corporate reorganizations, both public and private, cross-border and international transactions, tax-deferred financing, taxation of non-residents, structured finance and public finance. He is Chairman of the Board of Penn West Petroleum Ltd. and Crew Energy Inc. and is a director of a number of public corporations including Baytex Energy Corp. (heavy oil and conventional production), Just Energy Corp. (gas marketing) Progress Energy Resources Corp. (natural gas production) and North American Energy Partners (energy related construction).
Mr. Brussa is a past governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is a director or trustee of a number of charitable and non-profit organizations.  Mr. Brussa holds a Bachelor of Arts, History and Economics and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor.
 

John W. Ferguson
RMP President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Ferguson is the President and Chief Executive Officer of RMP Energy Inc. He was Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of RMP Energy Ltd. from 2008 until the May 2011 restructuring. He was Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer with Rider Resources Ltd. from 2003 to 2008, Meota Resources Corp. from 2000 to 2002 and Poco Petroleums Ltd from 1992 to 1999. In that role, he oversaw accounting, finance, investor relations, human resources, information technology and strategic planning. Mr. Ferguson has been a director of a number of public companies and not-for-profit organizations. Currently, his only directorship is with RMP.

Mr. Ferguson earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.


Andrew Hogg
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Hogg is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Coda Petroleum Inc. He was President and CEO of Rondo Petroleum Inc. from 2008-2010, a private oil and gas company, and Grand Petroleum Inc. from 2003-2007.  He began his oil and gas career in 1985 as a geologist with Norcen Energy Resources Ltd. before moving on to become an oil and gas analyst with two national independent brokerage firms from 1997 to 2002. His other directorships are with Coda Petroleum Inc. and Foothills Acoustic Music Institute, a not-for -profit society.

Mr. Hogg earned his Bachelor of Science (Honours in Geological Sciences) from Queen's University and obtained his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. Mr. Hogg is a Professional Geologist with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).


Jim Saunders

Mr. Saunders, RMP's Chairman of the Board's Engineering, Health and Safety Committee, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Twin Butte Energy Ltd. Mr. Saunders has in excess of 29 years of diversified technical and management experience. He was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Prairie Schooner Petroleum Ltd. from 2004 to 2006, President and Chief Executive Officer of Great Northern Exploration Ltd. from 2001 to 2004, and President and Chief Executive Officer of Ionic Energy Inc. from 1997 to 2001. He is a director of Savanna Energy Services Corp., Twin Butte Energy Ltd. and Northern Plains Capital Fund.

Mr. Saunders earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in 1982.


Lloyd Swift

Mr. Swift is an independent businessman and has acted as an independent director for a variety of publicly-traded oil and gas companies since 1994. From 1984 to 1994, Mr. Swift was an investment banker with Burns Fry Limited involved in the firm's energy practice.

Mr. Swift earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary in 1969 and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1972.
